This Ford Transit petrol came into Duffy Motors for a timing belt replacement. On this model, the vehicle uses a wet belt setup, which means the belt runs inside the engine rather than externally like a traditional timing belt.
Wet belts are an important part of the engine’s timing system, so replacing them properly is essential. If they become worn or start to break down, they can lead to serious engine problems if left too long.
After checking the vehicle, we confirmed it had a wet belt configuration with two belts to replace. These were the main crankshaft and camshaft belt, along with the oil pump belt.
Because these belts sit internally within the engine, the job is more involved than a standard timing belt replacement. To access them correctly, the sump and timing cover need to be removed.
Our technician carefully stripped down the required components, removed the old belts and fitted the new wet belt kit, including the oil pump belt.
Once everything was replaced, the engine was rebuilt, checked and tested to make sure the Tranny was running as it should – the vehicle was sorted and ready to get back on the road.
